E & H Manufacturing, Inc. manufactures a cost effective means for crossing small streams in numerous applications. Our portable timber bridges can be purchased or leased, and are easily transported and installed. With all costs considered they are usually less expensive than other means.
Our professionally engineered, pre-stressed, portable bridges are certified to carry a maximum load of 80,000 pounds. They were designed to meet American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO HS-20-44) Specifications.
The portable bridge is constructed of CCA-treated 2 x 12’s that are encased in steel channel. The patented Shear Key design allows the bridge to operate as a single, solid structure with the weight distributed evenly across the entire bridge. It is designed for fast, easy installation with a dozer, excavator, and/or boom truck.
Our portable bridge system assists in meeting and exceeding Best Management Practices for stream crossings by minimizing stream siltation and erosion during installation, use, and removal of the bridge.
Our bridge system meets the requirements of Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Specification 3.24. Our bridges have been used for flood relief, temporary crossings into wetlands to perform studies, and for initial access for performing evaluations for housing development projects. Several Divisions of the WVDOH have approved, and the bridges have been used, as overlays on weight restricted DOH bridges. E & H has provided a number of bridges to New York State for access throughout the Hudson Bay Watershed. They have been heavily used in the timber and oil and gas industries. Some have been installed for permanent access to parks, recreation areas, and private lands.
Our portable bridge system will assist drillers and loggers in meeting and exceeding Best Management Practices for stream crossings by minimizing stream siltation and erosion after the completion of the operation. They also help to keep debris out of the waterway and with no in-stream construction. They are widely used on larger farms, and for housing developments and personal home sites, and are:
- Maintenance free
- Inexpensive to install
- Used to overlay existing weight-restricted bridges on small roads
Our bridge system is:
- A patented Shear Key design (US Patent No. 5.603.134)
